”Last chance” metal contaminant removal

PROTECTOR-MF Powtech
At the FAKUMA 2011 trade fair S+S for the first time presents the PROTECTOR-MF metal separator.
At FAKUMA 2011 to be held in Friedrichshafen from 18 to 22 October 2011, S+S Separation and Sorting Technology GmbH, Hall B1, Stand 1302, will be exhibiting metal separators from the PROTECTOR family and magnet systems for installation upstream of injection moulding machines for "Last-Chance" metal detection.

The highlight is the new PROTECTOR-MF combining the proven advantages of its predecessor, the MFE, with new performance features. Whilst retaining the excellent sensitivity and performance of the MFE, the new system requires less height above moulder and all parts in contact with the product are made of stainless steel.

S+S PROTECTOR series units are installed directly on the infeed of injection moulding machines and separate metal particles from a slow moving column of material. Whether in primary or secondary feed processes, all metals are effectively removed and PROTECTOR systems provide maximum machine protection and prevent screw crashes, choked nozzles, and mould damage. The compact but strong design means that mixing and dosing units can be installed directly on the system.

We will also be exhibiting magnet separators, primarily used for pre-separation in applications with a high level of ferrous contamination. By installing these upstream of the inductive sensor there is less material loss and reduced wear on the metal separation system, thus reducing maintenance and replacement costs.

Also on show will be detectors integrated with conveyor belts and for vacuum and pressure conveying applications.

Information about plastics sorting

The use of recycled material is much more extensive than in the past and S+S is a leader in product sorting for plastics recycling. One of our expert staff will be available on the stand, Wednesday, 19 October 2011, to answer any questions on the subject of optical sorting by colour and polymer type.
